Summary
The madcap Marx Brothers musical. A touching, song-filled celebration of the origins of these show-business legends and gutsy, tender, matriarch Minnie Marx, the extraordinary woman who gave birth to a generation of laughter in the form of the maddest, merriest quintet that ever drove a mother – and then the world – wild. This is their story, and Minnie’s as well. “Mama a Rainbow,” “Rich Is,” “They Give Me Love” and the title song are just a few of the catchy, Broadway-style melodies in this hummable score from the composer of Goodtime Charley and Snoopy.
History
Minnie’s Boys premiered on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre on 26 March 1970. Directed by Stanley Prager, the production starred Shelley Winters and featured Daniel Fortus, Alvin Kupperman, Irwin Pearl, Gary Raucher and Lewis J. Stadlen.
